Career and Technical Education (CTE) is designed for college and career preparatory education and training. A diverse curriculum is offered to prepare students for entry into the workforce or for further study in the postsecondary setting. These pathways link school-based learning with career-related experiences. The CTE programs follow the state-adopted pathways and are representative of the national Career and Technical Educational Model. These clusters include courses that identify academic and technical knowledge and skills needed for students to pursue a wide range of career opportunities. Through partnerships with businesses and industry and dual enrollment opportunities, students are able to participate in the following career clusters.
These clusters include:
- Business, Management, and Administration - Ms. Kaitlyn Sutton and Ms. Jodie Hosey
- Arts, Audio/Visual Technology, and Communications - Mr. Jimmy Reynolds and Mr. J.C. Reams

Pathway to Success
Sylacauga City students have access to the Alabama Career Planning System, powered by Kuder®. This comprehensive education and career planning tool allows students, parents, and educators to plan for a student’s future and find links between their interests and aptitudes, explore careers, and research postsecondary options. Their career interests and skills are used to guide the student to associated career clusters.
- Career Clusters represent the broad groupings of similar occupations and industries within the U.S. job market. Each Career Cluster provides students with an overview in terms of career options and an opportunity to explore the industry.
- Within each of the Career Clusters are various Career Pathways, representing a variety of occupational fields associated with the Career Cluster. Each Career Pathway focuses on the specific courses and experiences that prepare students for two-year and four-year colleges, and the workplace.
-
Career Tech Student Organizations are integrated into each CTE program area. Student career and technical organizations serve to join students together for career development skills and opportunities that further prepare them for the workforce and post-secondary training. The following Career Tech Student Organizations are available in Sylacauga City Schools:
- FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America)
- FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America)
- HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America
