Welcome to our New Executive Director of Teaching and Learning, Ms. Jessica Hahn

Sylacauga City Schools officially welcomed Ms. Jessica Hahn as its new Executive Director of Teaching and Learning during Wednesday's called board meeting. Ms. Hahn brings over two decades of educational experience, including 13 years in administrative leadership, and a proven track record of instructional excellence to the district.
Throughout her professional career, Ms. Hahn has successfully led two separate campuses out of formal "school improvement" status, elevating both schools from stagnant growth to exceeding state benchmarks.
Superintendent Dr. Eller expressed her enthusiasm for the appointment: “Ms. Hahn will be a great addition to our team and a valuable asset to our district. Her deep understanding of curriculum and instruction as well as her pedagogy knowledge and school building leadership will help us reach all of our students in a meaningful and impactful way.”
Ms. Hahn's leadership is centered on a commitment to equity, data-driven instruction, and the belief that every student in Sylacauga deserves access to high-quality pedagogy. She plans to implement a results-oriented approach focused on three core pillars:
- Instructional Coherence: Ensuring that curriculum, assessment, and professional development are vertically and horizontally aligned to reduce variability in student outcomes.
- Empowered Educators: Designing transformational, job-embedded professional learning opportunities focused on high-leverage instructional strategies.
- Data-Informed Decision Making: Utilizing real-time student data to identify trends, allocate resources effectively, and pivot instructional strategies to meet the evolving needs of the diverse student population.
Sylacauga City Schools looks forward to Ms. Hahn solidifying the instructional foundation, mentoring principals and the curriculum department, providing guidance on human resource situations, and driving accountability throughout the schools and district.
“ I am incredibly honored to step into this leadership role. I look forward to joining the dedicated team at Sylacauga City Schools and helping to continue the strong tradition of excellence the system already has in place for its students and community. My passion in education is developing strong processes that support state standards to lead all students to academic success,” Ms. Hahn said.
"We are excited to welcome Ms. Hahn to Sylacauga City Schools," Dr. Eller added. "We feel as though she will be a perfect addition as we continue to equip everyone for excellence."
