Students in Mrs. Mathis’ math class collaborated to complete a scavenger hunt containing rigorous word problems. Students had to correctly solve one and two step word problems in order move through the scavenger hunt. It was a fun activity that caused the students to work together and persevere in problem solving.






Students in Mrs. Bradford's class completed STEAM challenges based on Black History Month heroes.










Yesterday Mrs. Bolton’s class enjoyed a special technology/reading/writing lesson with their University of West Alabama field experience teacher, Ms. Holmes. Ms. Holmes taught a lesson about character traits. Students had a great time writing and creating a comic strip where the main character had to exhibit a particular character trait. Everyone did a great job!

This Friday, February 23 is Snack Day and Fun Pass Friday!


Black History Month Celebration: During Encore classes, all student have been learning about the Harlem Renaissance. They have researched writers, painters, and musicians of the time. They also did some art work in collage--a medium popular during this era. As you attend conferences, please take a few minutes to check out the students work on the bulletin boards.

Today is National School Resource Officer Day! Thank you, Officer Brown, for your dedication and service to Sylacauga City Schools.

Student Council's annual animal shelter drive is happening this month. Donations will be collected through next Friday, February 23.


This week, Miss Sierra and Ms. Lacey's students continued Black History Month by learning about George Washington Carver and his peanut creations. They made homemade peanut butter and had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for snack. Yum!!

Mrs. Jones' class enjoyed a special visit this morning from SHS Senior and Miss Sylacauga's Teen, Camilla Friday. The students enjoyed hearing Camilla read "A Perfect Day for Golf" and practicing their golfing skills with her.
