SCS will operate on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, January 17, 2024

Due to the threat of severe weather, specifically, straight-line winds causing downed trees and powerline outages on Friday, January 12th, all school buildings will be closed, and students will transition to remote learning. All after-school activities are also cancelled.
Schools will be closed Monday, January 15 for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.
We will continue to monitor the weather for Tuesday and will keep you posted if anything changes to the school day schedule.

Important message from SCS schools~

Sylacauga City Schools welcomed Sergeant Revels today as she discussed our role in School Safety Prevention. Sergeant Revels is an 18-year veteran School Resource Officer (SRO) for the Lee County School System and serves as the 1st Vice President of the National Association of School Resources Officers (NASRO) and President of The Alabama Association of School Resource Officers (TAASRO). Sylacauga City faculty and staff entered the building through new metal detectors and concluded the training by participating in a hard lockdown drill. Safety will always be a top priority for the students, faculty, and staff of Sylacauga City Schools.

The Alabama State Department of Education released the Alabama State Report Card today, Thursday, December 14, 2023. This Report Card contains a letter grade for every school and school system in the state for the 2022-23 school year.
Sylacauga City Schools received a "B," which is calculated from academic achievement, academic growth, chronic absenteeism along with graduation rates, and college and career readiness indicators (for high schools). Not only did the district receive a "B," but significant improvement in achievement, growth, graduation rate, and college and career readiness were seen from the previous year's report card.
"I am extremely proud of the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and administrators in their continual daily focus on academic achievement and growth," remarked Dr. Michele Eller, Sylacauga City Schools Superintendent. "We celebrate the progress we are making and are committed to continual improvement and growth in student achievement."
Thank you, parents and community partners, for working alongside Sylacauga City Schools as we continue Equipping Everyone for Excellence.
