Sylacauga City Schools Board of Education participated in whole board training led by Dr. Lisa Stamps, Alabama Association of School Boards. This training will serve as a springboard for working with stakeholders on a new 5-year strategic plan to be implemented in 2025.

Pinecrest and Indian Valley students filled the Pinecrest Elementary School Gymnasium on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. After finishing ten weeks in the Super Citizen Program, they are gathered to celebrate their accomplishments and honor local heroes. They chose heroes who embodied the traits of amazing citizens and read essays from the stage before presenting them with Authentic Liberty Replicas & Liberty Pins. Leadership Sylacauga visited Indian Valley and Sylacauga High Schools today. The group toured the schools, visited classrooms, and enjoyed a variety of performances. We enjoyed showcasing our schools to the community leaders.

Sylacauga City Schools Board of Education recognized the Teachers of the Year from each school as well as the two teachers who will represent the system at the state level. Pictured are Jeff Steers, Sylacauga High School (Secondary Teacher of the Year); Joey Fleaman, Nichols-Lawson Middle School; Kristy Harmon, Pinecrest Elementary School (Elementary Teacher of the Year); and Teresa Fisher, Indian Valley Elementary School.
The Board Members were also recognized for their service as January was deemed Board Member Appreciation month. Mrs. Garris was recognized for her 10 1/2 years of service on the board. Mrs. Twymon took her place on the board in December. The Central Office honored Mrs. Price; Indian Valley honored Dr. Marlowe, Pinecrest Elementary honored Mr. Bailey, Nichols-Lawson honored Dr. Chadalawada, and Sylacauga High School honored Mrs. Twymon
