Thank you Auburn University for sending Dr. Yadrianna Acosta-Sojo, Dr. Mark Schall, graduate students Diana Abbas, and Lucie Outlaw from the College of Engineering - Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering to teach 7th grade students in Mr. Browning's classes about exoskeletons. The students heard a presentation about exoskeletons used in industrial applications. The examples included passive and active exoskeletons. The best part of the day was the demonstrations. Students got to try out these amazing creations! This was a great opportunity for our students to experience real world examples of creative technology that can and will change the future of manufacturing, disabilities, and military endeavors.

Thank you so much Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and Mu Tau Omega Chapter for our C.A.R.E. Cart. These carts contain all the essential hygiene products that a student might need discreetly. The carts will be located in a space in the counselor's office to maintain privacy for students. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and Mu Tau Omega Chapter are going to keep the carts stocked year-round so student needs can be continually met. We appreciate your partnership with our school.

Heather Hines is the Nichols-Lawson Middle School star student for the month of March. Not pictured is Brenda Durden, who was voted as our Faculty member of the month.

The student's in Mrs. Johnson's math classes completed a Brochure research project on Famous Black Mathematicians. The students chose a famous black mathematician to research. They learned about their occupation, family life, major contributions to mathematics, and other fun facts about their mathematician. After completing their research, the students used that information to create a brochure. These brochures can be found on the bulletin board in the 6th grade hallway at NLMS for others to read so they can also learn about these famous black mathematicians.

Last week NLMS FOCUS and Peer Helper programs hosted a Kindness Campaign. These students went above and beyond by hosting a McSpirit Night where they raised money to help students in need. They also wrote positive messages on stickers for the coffee cup sleeves at Cuppa Grace, welcomed students with kind words and posters at arrival, colored with Mrs. Davis’ class, and shared a “How to be Kind Online” presentation with all 7th and 8th grade classes.
We are so proud of them and are inspired by their dedication and commitment to helping make our school the best it can be!

The 2025-2026 Calendar is now available.

Happy SRO Appreciation Day to Officer Brown. We are thankful for everything he does for our school. We love you Officer Brown!

Mr. Browning's 7th grade Life Science classes learned how a fish's swim bladder enables the fish to float at different levels in the water. This lesson is part of the vertebrate animal unit.

Mrs. Reams’s 7th and 8th grade ELA classes are celebrating Black History Month by exploring the legacy of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Students select an accredited HBCU and research that school’s website. Through the process they uncovered the rich history, traditions, mission, and notable alumni of accredited HBCUs.

Congratulations to the newly inducted members of the National Junior Honor Society.
