Sylacauga City Schools is a small system that thinks big. Our Board of Education is committed to encouraging, equipping, and empowering all students to own their future by providing diverse pathways to an excellent education. Our four schools and over 270 employees serve more than 2000 students in grades pre-K through 12. All schools are clean, safe, and organized for learning in and out of the classroom.

Numerous opportunities are offered above and beyond the required courses set by the Alabama State Department of Education. All of our students are afforded experiences in art, music, computer science, and communications. Our secondary students have the opportunity to participate in career-oriented courses in audio/visual technology, business, health science, human services, introductory engineering, and basic manufacturing. These offerings include pathways to earning industry-recognized credentials and technical certifications and degrees through Central Alabama Community College (CACC). In addition to a strong core curriculum in all grades, our high school students can attend college through dual-enrollment agreements with Auburn University, CACC, Jacksonville State University, and the University of Alabama.

Each student is provided a computer for school and home use, and our campuses have state-of-the-art computer labs and media centers for independent study and specialty programs. With the abundance and complexity of computer devices, we have a technology expert on staff at each school ready to help students, employees, and parents with any of our systems.

The educational experience is further enhanced with opportunities for participation in fine arts programs, athletics, and many co-curricular activities in each grade level. We believe in providing as many opportunities as we can and know that learning happens across all activities.

Sylacauga has a tradition of strong partnerships with families and the community. We partner with local businesses, industry, and medical providers to extend learning opportunities for our students. The City of Sylacauga and its citizens provide strong financial support for education and the Sylacauga City Schools Foundation provides grants each year for classroom enhancements.

These elements combine to help us achieve our mission to encourage, equip, and empower all students to own their future by providing diverse pathways to an excellent education.
